MODALITIES

Our treatment process at the Arrow House combines one-on-one therapy with group and family therapy sessions to help clients and their loved ones prepare for long-term recovery.

DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY

Based on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy was developed as a specialized therapeutic method for certain personality disorders, before becoming a well-researched modality for other conditions as well. DBT is built around the idea that clients can affect their thoughts and behavior through selective acceptance and therapeutic change.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

The gold standard for modern talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy helps clients recognize and affect their thinking to change their behavior, through mindfulness and thought exercises. CBT helps clients understand that some of their problems are rooted in unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of doing, and works with them to challenge these.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help children, adolescents, and their caregivers overcome the impact of traumatic experiences. It combines cognitive and behavioral techniques to reduce symptoms of trauma, improve coping skills, and foster a sense of safety and stability.

FAMILY SYSTEMS THERAPY

Family systems therapy relies on the idea that the family unit can become a teen's most valuable long-term therapist and support system, through access to mental health resources, valuable psychoeducation, and modelling healthy behavior at home.

Equine Therapy

Equine therapy and other animal-based mental health modalities combine caring for another living being with guided therapy to build confidence, interpersonal skills, trust, empathy, impulse control, and greater emotional awareness. Teens also learn to cope with certain emotions and impulses by helping someone, or something.

GROUP THERAPY

Group therapy at the Arrow House involves guided therapy sessions between a professional therapist and multiple clients, focused around tackling individual therapy goals, sharing positive experiences, and learning ways to cope and heal through one another.

PSYCHOEDUCATION

Psychoeducation is an important therapeutic tool here at the Arrow House. We help our clients better understand their condition and learn to navigate existing systems to seek help and resources whenever they are needed.
